As you know, Sodus Bay has a continuing growth of water chestnuts in the near shore areas . This year with special help from the Sodus Bay Improvement Association (SBIA), we’ve been able to make a real dent in the water chestnut population. However, we need still need your help because much of the growth is beyond the reach of harvesters and therefore requires hand picking.

We’ll start pulling water chestnuts at 9:00 A.M. If you are coming in by car with a kayak or canoe there is a launch at the Emerald Point location.

The picnic starts at 11:30 – 1:00.
The picnic location is at the end of Emerald Point Road, you should see the County Weed Harvester.
