Update on the Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Dialogue / Participez au dialogue sur le lac Ontario et le fleuve Saint-Laurent

View Announcement

Do you have any questions or issues that need to be addressed regarding the new approach to managing water levels and flows that is being discussed?

You are invited to participate in the Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Dialogue, a New Approach to Managing Water Levels and Flows, to be held from June 12-15.

The International Joint Commission has received much public comment and is convening this web dialogue to facilitate more in-depth discussion of issues related to the new approach with experts and other stakeholders throughout the Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River (LOSLR) system. The new approach would take a step toward more natural water levels and flows in order to improve environmental conditions in the system, particularly on Lake Ontario, and would maintain most, but not all of the economic benefits of the current regulation regime.

The dialogue will focus on how a new regulation plan, called Plan Bv7, would affect interests in the LOSLR system, including shoreline communities, recreational boating, commercial navigation, hydroelectric power, municipal and industrial water uses, and the environment. Questions regarding the equity of the tradeoffs and the challenges of the future will also be discussed.

We anticipate a very active discussion. Participants can take part at their convenience by posing questions and reading and responding to the comments of others at any time during the four days. Summaries of each day’s discussion will be available the following morning. The dialogue archive will remain online as a reference.

Translators will be available each day so you may participate in either French or English.

To join the discussion and receive daily summaries by email, visit the web dialogue site and register now:

Registration is limited to 750 participants to ensure a manageable dialogue.

You are encouraged to review the dialogue agenda and the selected library resources before the dialogue begins.

Please share this invitation with other groups and individuals who might be interested. If you have any questions about this event, please contact:
